Duckies & Bunnies
So I had some thoughts today. The first one is that the blog is going to be a little less formal. I have been trying to put things in that will talk about the Green party from a who we are perspective. I think now there are going to be more things about what I thought today. On that note today a Mother duck and her goslings stopped traffic on memorial drive. I was late for a meeting but the duck did not care.

A kind man got out of his car and herded the duck off the road. As I was sitting there waiting I was thinking, who are we doing this for anyway? Who will stand for those who cannot speak for themselves?

Today I am in it for the ducks.

Education / Innovation

The Green Party will invest in education. The only way a society can increase its output and use the same resources is through new methods. The education level of the people determines how productive they can be. We want to work smarter and not harder.

The last era of industrialization was characterized by the use of brute force. We have moved beyond that. We are now able to make things using only half the resources we used just a few years ago. This has been done through research and innovation. If we want a Green economy we are going to have to have an educated work force. We are going to have to have money for research.

People will also need to be educated in different methods of doing things. I was up at Aurum Lodge on the weekend and they are 75% sustainable energy. They were telling me that one of the major problems in building the lodge was finding tradesmen who knew how to install sustainable energy. They had no problem finding companies that made the parts but we did not have the people here in Alberta to put the job into practice.

The Green Party will ensure that there is education for people to become sustainable. Research to improve the existing sustainable technologies and incentives to bring cutting edge people to Alberta to help us improve. This is the third part of the plan. It is not third in priority it is third because it will we be the third initiative that Albertans see a result from.

We have the technology to make the change we just need to train the people to bring it here. We need to work smarter not harder.
